Free Entry for Veterans, Service Members at Lake Cahuilla Memorial Day Weekend!

LA QUINTA – Supervisor V. Manuel Perez wants to remind veterans and service members that Riverside County honors their service with free entry into the Lake Cahuilla Veterans Regional Park during Memorial Day weekend (Saturday-Monday).

The county park is open from 6 a.m. to sunset, and is located at 58-075 Jefferson Street, La Quinta, CA  92253. The phone number for more information is 951-564-4712.

The free entry is part of the renaming of Lake Cahuilla Regional Park to Lake Cahuilla Veterans Regional Park, brought forth by Supervisor Perez in August 2017. The policy also waives admission fees to the park for veterans and service members every Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

“I’m very proud Lake Cahuilla Veterans Regional Park is the first park in the county park system in honor of veterans,” said Supervisor Perez. “We thank and honor everyone who has served our country, and welcome them to enjoy this beautiful and special jewel on Memorial Day weekend.”

Free admission is open to active duty military personnel and veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces, National Guard and federal and state reservists. To qualify, veterans need to present valid proof of military service.

Lake Cahuilla Veterans Regional Park is operated by the Riverside County Regional Park and Open-Space District via a lease with the Coachella Valley Water District and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.

The park features flags of each military branch, dedication plaques, lighting and landscaping pathways. A new monument sign signifying the name change was recently installed at the entrance of the park. More signs are coming.
